
Claire (Maloney) DePersia, 67, of Suffield, passed away peacefully, unexpectedly on Thursday, October 20, 2011, at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford.
She was born on June 9, 1943, in Hartford, CT, daughter of the late Clarence and Anna (Dwyer) Maloney. As a child she spent her summers at West Hill Lake in New Hartford, CT, and she has served on the West Hill Lake Association. Claire grew up in Wethersfield and was a graduate of Wethersfield High School with the Class of 1961. She went on to graduate from Annhurst College in Woodstock, CT and obtained her Master’s Degree from Central Connecticut State University. Claire went on to teach business and accounting at Windsor High School for over 29 years, before her retirement in 2008. Claire was dedicated to education and supported the Suffield High Safe Party and was currently serving on the board of the Future Business Leaders of America. She enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, going to the casino, cheering on the UCONN basketball team, and working part-time at Macy’s in Enfield.
She is survived by her four children, Debra Richardson and her husband David of Marshfield, MA, Jennifer DePersia and her fiancé Bill Devine of Windsor Locks, Jeff DePersia of Marshfield, MA and T.J. DePersia of Suffield. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Paul and Colleen Richardson of Marshfield, MA; her sisters, Marcia Chalker and her husband Wes of Mendon, NJ and Lynn Johnston and her husband Doug of Mahwah, NJ; her brother, Neil Maloney and his wife Beth of Marlboro, MA; and many nieces, nephews and cherished colleagues and friends.
Family and friends may gathered Today at the Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St. (Rt. 159) Suffield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, from Sacred Heart Church, Suffield. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Suffield. Her family will received friends Sunday, at the funeral home.
