Our by-laws clearly state they are public meetings:
Section 3. Open Meetings. All Town Committee meetings shall be open to the public unless the Town Committee shall, because of unusual circumstances or as described in Article I Section 8, by majority vote, elect to go into executive session. Although open to the public, only Town Committee members may engage in discussion during the meeting, unless approval for a non-member to address the Committee is given by a simple majority vote of the members present or approved by the Town Chairperson.
