WINDSOR, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.
Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT
- Displays of research and creativity filled the Student Center at Eastern Connecticut State University on April 13 for the annual CREATE conference. CREATE stands for "Celebrating Research Excellence and Artistic Talent at Eastern," and is the University's premier undergraduate conference of the academic year.
Presenters from Windsor were Ashley Acosta, who majors in Social Work; Chad-Michael Muirhead, who majors in Computer Science; and Aziel Rivera, who majors in Visual Arts and presented artwork titled "Forthcoming." CREATE featured more than 200 students of all majors who led oral and poster presentations, panel discussions, music and dance performances, art and photography exhibitions, as well as documentary viewings and new-media demonstrations.

- Rachel Poirier of Windsor was among 18 University of Scranton students inducted into Phi Sigma Tau, the international honor society for students of philosophy. Eligibility for nomination requires a major or minor in philosophy as well as excellence in philosophy works. Induction of nominated students is based on voting results of philosophy faculty and current chapter members. The University's chapter of the honor society was established in 1982. Poirier is a senior at the Jesuit university.
