College Baseball Standout from Windsor Named Conference Player of the Year

WINDSOR, CT — Lasell College senior catcher Wes Hurty has been selected as the 2016 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Year, as voted upon by the league’s eight head coaches.

The slugging backstop, a graduate of Windsor High School, was named to the All-GNAC First Team after finishing the season with a .348 average, two home runs, 32 runs batted in and a .960 OPS for the Lasers, who finished third in the regular-season standings.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder also was named to the league's Gold Glove Team.

In four years at Lasell, Hurty batted .296 with four homers and 74 RBI.
