On-Site Flu Clinics with CVS

First Town Downtown is pleased to partner with the Windsor Chamber of Commerce and CVS Pharmacy to provide Windsor companies the chance to schedule flu clinics on-site for their employees. The CDC recommends that people get a flu vaccine by the end of October, though getting vaccinated later can still be beneficial and vaccinations are offered throughout the flu season.

“It’s more important than ever to get a flu shot,” says First Town Downtown Director, Jane Garibay, “Employers need to do everything they can to help keep their staff healthy. Offering on-site flu shots is an easy way to do that.”

Be a Part of Our Upcycled Planter Challenge!

The Windsor Monarch Project’s (WMP) beautiful butterfly habitats have drawn enthusiastic praise from residents since their planting, but the habitats are now in need of new native, monarch-friendly plants to keep the butterflies coming back! To raise funds to replenish the habitats, the WMP, part of First Town Downtown, is launching the 2021 Upcycled Pollinator Planter Challenge.

Examples of preliminary creative planters are on view now at Bart’s Drive-In Restaurant, The Bean@226 and James Selig Estate Jewelry and Antiques.

The Challenge is designed to engage local residents and out-of-town visitors to view the creative planters at sponsors’ places of business in Windsor center. For businesses or organizations who don’t have a location in Windsor center, space will be available on the town green to display their creations. Related activities are being planned now to draw attention to this unique artistic display.

Sponsors and designers will be able to sign up online soon. Sponsors can be matched with a creative designer (or they can choose their own designer to create their unique planter). All FTDT business members are invited to sign up their locations for this first-of-its-kind-in-Connecticut event. More details will be forthcoming in February 2021 about this fun outdoor event! Please contact Jane Garibay and Suzanne Urban by emailing monarchs@ftdt.org for more information.
