Windsor Man Confirmed As Giovanni’s Shooting Suspect

A 35-year-old Windsor man remains locked up in New York as Connecticut authorities wait to bring him back.

WINDSOR, CT — The suspect in the Christmas party shooting at Giovanni’s Pizza Restaurant & Lounge has been formally identified as a 35-year-old Windsor man who is currently being held in New York, according to Windsor police.

In an email Tuesday morning, Windsor Police Captain Andrew Power confirmed, “That is our suspect,” referring to Randy Paul Naraine, who was previously identified by New York authorities following a traffic stop tied to the case.

Windsor police said officers responded to Giovanni’s, located at 578 Windsor Ave. in the Price Rite plaza near Route 159, at about 12:21 a.m. Dec. 20, 2025, for a report of a man shot inside the restaurant during a Christmas party.

Officers found the victim on the kitchen floor suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was transported to a local hospital and rushed into surgery. Police said at the time he was in stable but serious condition.

Investigators broadcast an alert for a 2020 white Toyota Tundra believed to be connected to the shooting. According to New York State Police, troopers spotted a vehicle matching that description — including matching license plates — traveling southbound on Interstate 95 in Westchester County at approximately 1:54 a.m.

Troopers followed the Toyota Tundra off Exit 15 onto Boston Post Road into the village of Pelham and onto the Hutchinson River Parkway southbound, where the vehicle was stopped in the Bronx with assistance from the NYPD, Westchester County Police and New Rochelle Police.

The driver, identified by authorities as Randy Paul Naraine of Windsor, was taken into custody without incident. Police said a handgun was recovered during the stop.

Court records show that a Bronx County grand jury indicted Naraine on Jan. 9, 2026, on multiple charges, including Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree for allegedly possessing a loaded firearm outside his home or place of business on Dec. 20, 2025.

Additional charges include Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, Unlawful Possession of Certain Ammunition Feeding Devices and Possession of Ammunition.

Earlier, Windsor police said, “As of January 29, 2026 the Bronx District Attorney’s Office was not releasing our suspect. They were holding him on their own charges. They are refusing to release him from their custody until their court case is completed.”

It remains unclear when Naraine could be extradited to Connecticut to face charges in the Windsor shooting.

The investigation remains ongoing.
