Jet Ski Crash In CT River In Windsor Leaves 1 Person Dead, Officials Say

WINDSOR, CT — A jet ski crash in the Connecticut River has resulted in the death of a New Haven resident, local and state officials said Monday.

DEEP Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police responded Sunday evening to a reported jet ski accident on the Connecticut River, near the Bissell Bridge Boat Launch in Windsor, officials said.

It was reported that a person was missing in the water as a result of the incident. That person was unaccounted for, and a search was undertaken Sunday night before it was suspended for the evening around 11 p.m. The search resumed Monday morning at 9 a.m.

The missing person was recovered on Monday. The victim was identified as Jose Nunez Quezada, 32, of New Haven.

"DEEP extends its condolences to Jose’s family and friends," a state official said.

The Office of the Chief State Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death. The incident remains under investigation.

The Central Connecticut Dive Team, CT State Police, and Windsor Police and Fire Departments all assisted in the operation.

The South Windsor Fire Department said it responded around 7 p.m. Sunday for a jet ski crash with a missing person in the river.
