Leadership Doesn’t Happen from 30,000 Feet

Leadership doesn’t happen from 30,000 feet, and neither does change.

My name is Tim Moore and I’m running for the 2nd District Senate seat. If you have recently been to the Democratic Town Committee meetings you may have seen me, or heard me speak. While I’m not a high-powered attorney or a career politician, I am a young and active Windsor resident looking for change. I’m a Windsor resident looking to create change.

Democrats have been majority in the General Assembly since the mid 1990’s. This would have been an opportune time for legislators to step back from broad legislation and dedicate more time to community-based initiatives. We could have spent this time reconnecting with district constituents and learning the specific needs of each community in an attempt to better the district. But we didn’t. Why? Because our current candidates aren’t about feet-on-the-ground leadership; instead, they believe in leadership from above. As such, they are removed from our everyday economic development woes and the minutia of town politics. With this method of leadership, our leaders are disconnected and change is slow.

What makes me connected?

My decision to run for the 2nd District Senate seat stems from the knowledge and experience I have. The awareness that in order to improve our residents’ quality of life, we must talk and listen. Connect with them. What we need now is a leader who is actively involved in the community. Someone who is passionate and willing to work on the ground level, get their hands dirty, and create policy to reinforce the goals of the communities that they serve. I believe real leadership starts here. Real change starts with me. Let’s create the change our community needs…together.
