Russell Sills Named Director of School, Family, and Community Partnerships at Windsor Public Schools

New Position Funded Through a Grant from the HFPG Coordinates Family and Communication Engagement to Increase Student Achievement

Windsor Public Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Russell Sills to the position of Director of School, Family, and Community Partnerships. The Director is a new central office administration position funded through a grant from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving has supported Windsor with a $390,000 grant for the district to establish an office of School, Family, and Community Partnerships. The Director will oversee and coordinate the districts’ efforts in engagement and partnerships with families and the community with the ultimate goal of increased student achievement.

Sills brings over 30 years of experience at all three levels of education and central office to this new position. During his time as Principal of Windsor High School, Russell has introduced a wide array of student supports and programs, overseen advancements in academics and surrounded himself with a very strong staff. He will exit the high school leaving it in a great position for future advancements.

“Russell has a strong background in engaging families in the school environment and will bring an academic focus to our efforts,” said Dr. Craig Cooke, Superintendent of Schools. “He has led groups to engage dads and male role models in their students’ academic lives well before it was on most people’s radars. He is well known in the Windsor community and already has a strong understanding of the importance of partnerships and how they lead to increased student success.”
