Sage Park Students Win Most Awards at Fifth Annual Model United Nations Conference for Middle Schools

Committee topics included gender inequality, internet censorship and refugees in war zones

A group of Sage Park students participated in the fifth annual Kingswood Oxford Model United Nations Conference for Middle Schools (KOMUN) on Saturday, March 11, 2017.

More than 200 students from 16 schools participated purposefully. Each middle school represented an assigned country in various mock UN committees such as the Security Council, the UN Environment Programme, and the UN Commission on Human Rights. In these committees, they discussed current global issues and propose applicable solutions.

This year, the committee topics included gender inequality, internet censorship and refugees in war zones. Sage Park students represented the countries of United Kingdom, Japan, Iran and El Salvador. For the past few weeks, the students worked hard on Fridays after school and sometimes during school hours to prepare for the conference. Sage Park students won the most awards and the award winners are as follows:
