Selected John F. Kennedy Students Perform at CT Music Educator's Convention

Each year the CT Music Educator’s Association sponsors an Elementary Honors Orchestra for teacher selected students (grades 4 - 6) throughout the state of CT. Each member teacher is allowed to select up to 4 students who have shown exemplary progress and dedication to mastering a stringed instrume

On Thursday, March 30, 2017, Windsor’s John F. Kennedy School sent four 5th grade students to the Music Educator’s Convention held at the CT Convention Center in Hartford: Angela Adu-Boateng (violin), Timothy Hoagland (violin), Zachary Palmer (viola), and Aidan McGraw (cello). The students attended a one day rehearsal workshop with guest conductor, Ann Danis who serves as a professor of music and the director of orchestral activities at the University of Rhode Island. She is in demand as a performer on violin and viola, clinician, and as a guest conductor throughout the country.

JFK students prepared and performed six concert pieces in front of an audience of music educators and proud friends and relatives.

In addition Aretha Prabawa, Windsor High School sophomore, auditioned and qualified for CT Music Educator’s Association All-State Orchestra three day weekend.
