Sportswriter Tom Yantz Speaks to Windsor Lions

At its meeting on Tuesday the Windsor Lions Club was pleased to have as a guest speaker Tom Yantz, sportswriter for the Hartford Courant, and he prefaced his remarks by saying that they were his opinions only and not necessarily those of the Courant. His topics included the unpredictability of the UConn Women's loss at the Final Four and the gracious way that the team coped with the defeat; the Travelers Championship and its enormous contributions to local charities and sports; his belief that UConn football is on the right track because of Coach Randy Edsall's ability to recognize and nurture good talent; his support for Kevin Ollie, but Yantz thinks that being in the AAC hurts the UConn men's basketball program by making it much tougher to recruit top level talent. Tom has addressed the club in April for many years and his talk is always one of the highlights of our year.
