Top Scholars Announced at Windsor High School

The valedictorian and salutatorian of the Class of 2018 were named Wednesday.

WINDSOR, CT — Windsor High School has announced the valedictorian and salutatorian of the Class of 2018. Sharon Spaulding is the valedictorian, while Ava Peters is the salutatorian.

Spaulding’s leadership roles include National Honor Society President, Math Team captain, Senior Advisory Leader, varsity girls’ tennis captain and French Honor Society President.

She has received numerous awards, including the University of Rochester Bausch and Lomb Award, Yale University Book Award, French 4 Award, AP Language and Composition Award, Multivariable Calculus Award, Precalculus Award, CT Governor’s Scholar Award, Biology Award, AP Calculus BC Achievement Award and second place in the school-wide Poetry Out Loud Competition.

Spaulding’s academic achievements include Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society, National Honor Society and French Honor Society. She is a member of the Windsor High School Ambassadors, Art Club, Math Team and Drama Club. She is also a Kidspace Volunteer and Volunteer Tutor.

She will be attending the University of Connecticut in the fall.

Peters has received numerous awards, including National Merit Semi-Finalist, University of Rochester Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award, Harvard Book Award, Pre-calculus Award, Algebra 2 Award and Spanish Language Award.

Her academic achievements include Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and National Honor Society. Additional achievements include Principal Cellist, and All Academic Athlete for field hockey.

Her volunteer work includes Child Care Volunteer, Peer Tutor, Assistant Teacher, Hailey Strong For a Paws Volunteer, Group Mission Trips Participant and feeding the homeless at Bushnell Park with Trinity United Methodist Church. She is also a member of the field hockey team, Bell Choir, Youth Choir, Youth Group and WHS Pals.

Peters will be attending Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in the fall.
