Virginia Hoerle Named New Principal of Oliver Ellsworth School

Hoerle will assume her new position as Principal of Oliver Ellsworth School in July 2017

The Windsor Board of Education has selected Virginia Hoerle to be the new Principal for Oliver Ellsworth School. Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Craig Cooke recommended Hoerle’s appointment to the Board at a special meeting that was held on April 4, 201

Hoerle has served as an educator in Windsor Public Schools for 18 years. She has spent her entire tenure at JFK Elementary School in Windsor. She started as a classroom teacher for 15 years; first as a fourth grade teacher, then fifth grade. She also served in many other leadership roles enroute to her current role as Vice Principal, which she has held since 2014.

“We are very excited that Virginia will be furthering her commitment to Windsor Public Schools as the new Principal for Oliver Ellsworth School,” said Dr. Craig Cooke, Windsor Superintendent of Schools. “With her strong background in elementary education, Virginia brings over two decades of experience to her new role and will continue to lead our schools in a positive direction. Virginia is deeply committed to the students and families of Windsor and that commitment was evident throughout the hiring process. We had many strong candidates but felt the strongest candidate was right here in our district.”

Hoerle earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Roger Williams College, her Masters of Early Childhood from the University of Hartford, and her Sixth Year Certificate in Educational Administration from the University of Connecticut.

“It is with great pleasure that I continue my professional journey here in Windsor as the next Principal of Oliver Ellsworth School,” said Virginia Hoerle. “Windsor’s commitment to their initiatives around equity and family/community engagement are like none other and they align with my core beliefs of integrity, truth and fairness. By accepting this appointment, I am able to return to the field of early childhood and work closely with the staff and families in order to shape the social, emotional and educational lives of young children.
