Windsor Food Bank Recognizes Volunteers Of The Year

WINDSOR, CT – The Windsor Food & Fuel Bank (WF&FB) presented its 2019 Volunteers of the Year Awards to individuals and groups for their extraordinary support of the programs of the nonprofit organization.

Five remarkable individuals and groups were honored by the organization’s leadership at a special ceremony at L.P. Wilson Community Center in Windsor. The awards were presented in the following order:

· Valerie Gange, a Windsor resident and essential volunteer in WF&FB’s Weekend Wheels Backpack program that provides take-home backpacks filled with nutritious, supplementary food each Friday to eligible elementary school students;

· Sharon Dillon Rispoli, a Windsor resident who organized a group of friends to present the first-ever Live. Love. Give. community dinner dance fundraiser that raised more than $14,000 in a single night for the organization;

· John Coughlin, franchisee of all of Windsor’s Dunkin’ Donuts shops. The collection boxes on each location’s counter generate thousands of dollars from his customers for the WF&FB every year;

· Claudio Daniele and Eli Horowitz of Fabricca USA in Windsor, who donate an ongoing supply of fresh fruits and vegetables to help stock the WF&FB; and

· Talcott Resolution’s Community Involvement Committee. These dedicated volunteers have organized numerous collections of food and diapers at their Windsor company for the WF&FB and Weekend Wheels programs.

“The Windsor Food & Fuel Bank organization is volunteer-based, and we are very fortunate to have so many terrific community members who step forward to support our mission of helping Windsor residents,” explains Ernest Perreault, President of the Windsor Food & Fuel Bank. “It is especially important that we show our appreciation to those who are significantly involved in our activities. The Windsor Food & Fuel Bank is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was founded in 1967 as the Windsor Community Service Council (WCSC).
