Windsor High School Hall of Fame Electees Selected
The Hall of Fame class of 2018 was introduced at halftime of a recent boys basketball game.
WINDSOR, CT — The Windsor High School Athletic Hall of Fame introduced the inductees for the Class of 2018 at halftime of a boys basketball game on Thursday, Feb. 15. Athletes to be inducted are Gordon Royce, Peter Kelly, Chuck Burton, Margaret Flynn, Cindy Young and Shani Grey. They will be joined by coach Vinnie Cianfarani, as well as the 1964 state championship boys golf team and 2004 Class LL champion girls basketball team.
The induction banquet is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 2, 2018, at the Windsor Marriott. For ticket information, contact Tom O’Shea at toshea5822@att.net.

- Gordon Royce, Class of 1953. Played soccer, basketball and baseball. Team captain for baseball and basketball. Signed a professional contract with the Brooklyn Dodgers.
- Peter Kelly, Class of 1976. Played soccer, basketball and baseball. All-conference in soccer. All-conference and all-district for baseball. Played at Marietta College.
- Chuck Burton, Class of 1978. Played football, hockey and baseball. All-conference in all three sports, and all-district in baseball. Team captain in football and hockey. Awarded the Windsor Cup.
- Margaret Flynn, Class of 1990. Played field hockey, basketball and track & field. All-conference and team captain in basketball, first female basketball player to score 1,000 points in a career at WHS.
- Cindy Young, Class of 1994. Played soccer, basketball and lacrosse. All-conference for basketball and lacrosse. Team captain for all three sports.
- Shani Grey, Class of 2006. Played basketball and track & field. Four-time all-conference for basketball. All-State, McDonald’s All-American nominee. All-State and All-New England for track & field.
- Coach Vinnie Cianfarani: girls basketball coach for 17 years. Coached the 2004 Class LL state championship team, and the 2005 runner-up team.
- 1964 boys golf team: WHS first state championship team, and only state champion golf team. Coached by John Meyers.
- 2004 girls basketball team: CCC champions, Class LL state champions. Ranked number one in the state in 2004.
