Windsor High School Students Learn Real-Life Experiences With Mock Job Interviews

Price Chopper, Parks and Recreation, Barts, and CVS help prepare students for the workforce

Windsor High School students taking a Study Skills course may be a step ahead of the rest when it comes to entering the workforce!

Led by UCONN student teacher Matt Miller, students have been working on a "Transition” unit which focuses on resume building and writing, high school employment, post-secondary education, and post-secondary employment.

Matt Miller, along with Windsor High School Resource Officer Josh Amaro, and Facilitator of Alternative Education, Kathleen Clarke have been working on connecting these classroom lessons to “real-life” experiences.

They arranged for local hiring managers and employers including Price Chopper, Parks and Recreation, Barts, and CVS to meet with some of the Study Skills classes at the high school to discuss the hiring process and conduct mock job interviews with the students. Windsor Mayor Donald Trinks participated and represented Barts. The employers provided immediate interviewing feedback to the students to help prepare them for a real interview.
