Windsor Obituary: Alice Rodrigue, 90

Condolences to her family and friends.

Alice M. Rodrigue, 90, of Windsor, beloved wife of the late Joseph Rodrigue, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on Tuesday, March 20, 2018.

Born in Thorndike, MA to the late Anthony and Anastasia (Dziergowski) Czajka, she was a Windsor resident from 1956 - 2010, thereafter residing with her daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter in Bolton. She was a member of St. St. Gabriel Church in Windsor and she was a past Secretary of the Windsor Letter Carrier’s Women’s Auxiliary from 1976 - 1983.

Prior to her marriage, she worked for the New England Telephone & Telegraph Company in Springfield, MA as accounting office supervisor. She obtained a position at G. Fox & Company in Hartford within the payroll office. She was promoted to assistant payroll manager and retired in May 1988.

Upon retirement, Alice didn’t slow down. She was active in the Enfield Senior Center, worked, and was honored as a volunteer for the American Red Cross and received a public service award from the Secretary of State in 2007 for her many dedicated years of working at the Windsor voting polls. She enjoyed card games, church picnics and loved to dance, especially the polka. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Alice is survived by her daughters, Janice Norton and her husband Jonathan of Bolton, and Karen Maidlow of Okemos, MI; her grandchildren, Alexandra, Jessica, Evelyn, Hilary and Christopher; and many loving nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Eddie, Henry and Francis, and her sisters, Sophie, Helen, Mary, Lena and Ethel.

Her family will receive friends on Thursday, March 22 from 2 PM to 4 PM at the Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave. Windsor. Family and friends may gather at 10 AM Friday, March 23 at the funeral home to follow in procession for an 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Gabriel Church, 379 Broad St. Windsor, followed by burial in Windsor Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
