
Arlyne S. Hancock, 83, of Newington formerly of Windsor, beloved wife of the late Robert Hancock, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017 while at Saint Francis Hospital.
She was born in Hartford on February 7, 1934, daughter of the late Henry and Anna (Brown) Stover, and graduated from Bulkeley High School in Hartford. After briefly working for Connecticut General Insurance Company, Arlyne went to work at Combustion Engineering where she met her future husband Robert Hancock. The two married and were blessed with three children.
Arlyne's family attended St. Joseph Church in Poquonock where she was a past president of the church's ladies guild. Arlyne returned to the work force after raising her children and was proud of the 18 years she spent working as a legal secretary at the law practice of O'Malley, Deneen, Messina, & Oswecki in Windsor.

Most of all Arlyne enjoyed spending time at home with her family and in Old Saybrook every summer. She was an avid reader and literary society member who devoured countless books on a myriad of different subjects throughout her life. Arlyne's fierce intelligence and independent spirit brought about energetic and lively discussions among family and friends over the years. Her memory will be forever cherished in the hearts of her family.
She leaves her children Ann Vozzolo (David Vozzolo) of Sarasota, FL, David Hancock (Christine Hancock) of Waterbury Center, VT, and Alison Sullivan (Dr. Jeffry Potash) of Brattleboro, VT; four grandchildren, Danny Vozzolo of Boston, MA, Michael Vozzolo of Sarasota, FL, Dylan Hancock of Waterbury Center, VT, and Cameron Hancock of Seattle, WA. Arlyne also leaves her sister, Patricia Gorman; a brother, John Stover (Marie Stover); a sister-in-law, Deanna Anderson; and many close nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Jean Peterson and her husband Ray and a brother-in-law, John Gorman.

The family would like to sincerely thank the many friends and neighbors who have helped Arlyne over the last few years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. at Church of the Holy Spirit, 183 Church St., Newington, with burial following in St. Joseph Cemetery, Poquonock. There will be no public calling hours.
