Joan Marie Sunday, 81, of Windsor, beloved wife of the late Robert G. Sunday, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Kimberly Hall Nursing Home.
Born in Hartford to the late Henry and Mary (Oppelt) McKay, she has been a lifelong resident of Windsor and a parishioner of St. Gertrude Church in Windsor. Joan was loved by many and her personality was contagious. Always wore a smile and adored her family and friends. She was happy with the simple things in life whether it was rummaging around stores, going for ice cream with her grandchildren, vacations over the years with her husband, sisters and family or just spending times with her family telling stories. Words cannot capture the impact she left on the lives of so many. Memories of her full life will always be cherished.
Joan is survived by her son Michael Gasper and his wife Sheila of Windsor; her three step-daughters and their children; her sister Barbara Cavallaro of South Windsor; her grandchildren, Lindsay, Ashley, Ryan and Michelle Gasper; her great-grandchild Tavis Henry Bostic; many loving nieces and nephews; and her lifelong best friend Marilyn LaFontaine. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son Rick Gasper, her brother Henry McKay Jr., and her sisters, Margaret Hodge and Patricia Bates.
