Kyle Dean Benson, 33, of Hartford and formerly of Windsor, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 3, 2016, after a long battle with addiction.
Born in Manchester on July 30, 1983, he was raised in Windsor by his grandparents, John and Anne Riccio. Kyle was a graduate of St. Gabriel School in Windsor and Northwest Catholic High School in West Hartford. After high school, he continued his education in the Hartford area pursuing his passion as an artist. He was well-known for his painting and drawings and he enjoyed working at Passages Art Gallery in Hartford.
Most of all, he will be remembered as true friend who knew people from all walks of life. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his daughter, Ruby, and he would do anything to help those he loved. Kyle spent his time creating beauty with his mind and his hands.

He leaves his parents, Jacqueline (Riccio) Benson of Warwick, RI, Dean Benson of Enfield, and Michael Mecagni of Long Island, NY; his pride and joy, his beloved daughter, Ruby Keane Benson and her mother, Elizabeth Mayer both of Charlottesville, VA; his maternal grandparents, John and Anne Riccio of Windsor; a brother, Kristor Benson of Windsor; a sister, Kelsey Fitzsimmons and her husband Matthew of Windsor; two nieces and nephew, Mia, Stella, and J.R. Fitzsimmons all of Windsor; his maternal uncle and Godfather, Sean Riccio of Suffield; two maternal aunts, Jennie Curley and her husband Dan and Anna Riccio and her husband Bob Zawasky all of Windsor; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
His family will receive friends on Sunday, October 9, 12-1 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m., at The Lodge Community Chapel, 130 Deerfield Rd., Windsor. A reception will follow at The Lodge. Burial will be private.

Kyle's family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Ruby Benson Scholarship Fund, c/o Windsor Federal Savings, 250 Broad St., Windsor, CT 06095.
