Windsor Obituary: Mary Bil, 89

Condolences to her family and friends.

Mary Bil, 89, of Wethersfield, beloved wife for 65 years of the late Michael Bil, passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 1, 2016, while visiting her family in Texas.

Born in Troscianiec Wielki, Poland on September 19, 1926, daughter of the late Piotr and Tekla (Forys) Sudal, she had lived in Dabrowa, Poland before immigrating to the United States and settling in Hartford in 1960. After living in Hartford for 20 years, Mary and her family moved to Wethersfield in 1980. Mary worked for Emhart Glass in Windsor in the accounting department for over 30 years until her retirement in 1992. She was a longtime parishioner of SS. Cyril & Methodius Church in Hartford and was also a member of the Holy Rosary Society at the church. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting, tending to the flower and vegetable gardens around her home, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She leaves a son, John Bil and his wife Grazyna of Mansfield, TX; three grandchildren, Thomas Bil of Mansfield, TX, Jason Bil and his wife Mayu of Brooklyn, NY, and Lisa Staigerwald and her husband, John, IV of Austin, TX; two great grandchildren, John Staigerwald, V and Blake Staigerwald; and many nieces and nephews in the United States and Poland. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Helena Bil; three brothers, Peter, Joseph, and John Sudal; and a sister, Anna Karp.

Her family will receive friends on Friday, May 6, 5-8 p.m., at the Waszkelewicz South Green Memorial Home, 43 Wethersfield Ave., Hartford. Family and friends may gather on Saturday, May 7, 11 a.m., at Waszkelewicz South Green Memorial Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 12 Noon, at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, Hartford. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. A reception will be held after the burial at the Polish National Home, Hartford.

Mary's family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Mary loved children!
