Windsor Obituary: Mechae Rivera, 44

Mechae J. Rivera, 44, of Windsor, beloved wife of Juan J. Rivera, passed away on December 11, 2017 at Saint Francis Hospital while surrounded by her family.

She was born in Georgetown, Guyana on November 6, 1973, daughter of Lennox and Doreen Roberts of Windsor. Mechae came to the United States in 1978 and resided in Windsor. Mechae graduated from Windsor High School and worked as a manager at Walmart in Newington at the time of her passing.

Mechae also held her CNA license and had previously worked in the nursing field. She married her husband Juan on August 4, 2004. The happy couple shared many special memories together. Mechae loved music and enjoyed sharing her eclectic favorites with family and friends.

In addition to her husband, Juan J. Rivera and her parents, Mechae leaves a wealth of family and friends including a brother, Chad Roberts and a sister, Claudine Roberts both of Windsor; her paternal grandmother, Doreen Roberts of Georgetown, Guyana; a sister-in-law, Olga Rivera; two brothers-in-law, Luis Catala and Victor Rivera; two aunts, Agnes Rose and her husband Michael and Joyce Williams and her husband Deryck; and three uncles, Winston Roberts and his wife Sue, Neville Roberts and his wife Leonie, Michael Roberts and his wife Gail. She also leaves step-children, step-grandchildren, six nieces and nephews, many cousins, and extended relatives within the Rivera family.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, Dec. 22, 2017 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 590 Bloomfield Ave, Bloomfield with visitation and viewing from 10-11 a.m., and the service beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Bloomfield.
