
Philip Ralph Attanasio, 80, beloved husband of Elaine (Spaulding) Attanasio, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Hartford on July 12, 1936, to Carmine and Mary (Mangiafico) Attanasio, and lived in Windsor for the last 50 years. After graduating from Bulkeley High School in 1955, Philip served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps. He became a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local #40, working on many construction projects throughout CT.
Philip enjoyed UConn women's basketball, fishing and hunting, was a member of the Suffield Sportsmen's Association, and past member of the Windsor Elks Club. Most especially he adored spending time with his grandchildren.

Besides his wife of 55 years, he is survived by his daughter Darlene Gerardi and her husband Daniel, of West Simsbury; his son Philip R. Attanasio, Jr. and his wife Mabilia, of Suffield; his grandchildren Dominic, Michele, and Daniel Gerardi, Gabriella and Philip Attanasio; his sisters Marianne Grimaldi and her husband, Peter, and Lidia Chamberlain; his sisters-in-law Muriel White, and Ernestine Attanasio; several special cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Angelo, Carmine and Robert, and brother-in-law Albert Chamberlain.
Philip's family would like to extend their gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and staff at Saint Francis Hospital, its Cancer Center, Pulmonary Section, and ICU: Dr. J. Rathmann, Dr. D. Grew, Dr. A. Qureshi, Dr. B. Lahiri, K. Schaefer, APRN, his nurses Karla, George, Tracy, Jeff and all who gave him such compassionate and excellent care.

Calling hours will be at the Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor on Friday, March 3, 2017
from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be Saturday, March 4 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 180 Park Ave., Windsor. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Bridge Street, Suffield.
