Windsor Obituary: Thomas Mawdsley, 84

Condolences to his family and friends.

Thomas Mawdsley, 84 of Windsor, died peacefully at Suffield House on April 7, 2018.

Born in Hartford to John T. and Maud (Hindle) Mawdsley, he married his beloved high school sweetheart Lorraine (Martinson) and settled in Windsor to raise their family over their forty-eight happy years together.

Tom graduated from Hartford Public High School where he lettered in football and baseball and later completed Electronic Technician training at the Ward School of Electronics. Tom proudly served with the United States Army during the Korean War and continued serving in the National Guard and Reserves.

He served the community as a member of Poquonock Community Church and Windsor’s Washington Lodge #70 AF&AM. Tom retired from the insurance industry after completing a thirty-nine-year career in the data processing field and enjoyed gardening, working around his home as well as vacationing with family at Sagamore Beach, Hampton Beach, Cape Cod and Lake Winnipesaukee.

Tom is survived and cherished by children Karen Weisher and husband Steve of Dunnellon, FL; Susan Wilson and husband Skip of West Suffield; Thomas K. Mawdsley and wife Lynn of Windsor as well as grandchildren Carla Wilson and fiancé Matt Ferony; Sarah Wilson and Thomas W. Mawdsley. Tom also leaves to remember him, brother-in-law Robert Martinson and sister-in-law Norma Mawdsley along with several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express its warmest thanks to Masonicare Partners and Suffield House staffs for their kind care and support.

His family will receive friends Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from 5-7 PM at the Carmon Poquonock Funeral Home, 1816 Poquonock Avenue, Poquonock section of Windsor. A Masonic funeral service will follow at 7 pm by officers and members of Washington Lodge #70 AF & AM. A private funeral service will be held Thursday for the family with burial in Elm Grove Cemetery, Windsor, followed by military honors.
