Windsor Police Dog Snags Drugs in Car During Traffic Stop

The arrest took place on Monday in Windsor Locks, police said.

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT - A Windsor police dog had a big role in a drug bust involving a Windsor Locks man during a traffic stop on Monday, Windsor Locks police said.

Police said a motorist identified as John Perez, 24, of Windsor Locks ran a stop sign on Main Street at about 1:15 p.m.

Police said they could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle so a canine unit from the Windsor Police Department was called to the scene.

The dog detected drugs and the car was searched, police said. Officers found 1.37 ounces of pot packaged for sale, a grinder and a scale, police said.

The charges against Perez include marijuana possession, and possession with the intent to sell, police said. He was released on a $1,500 bond and is to appear in Enfield Superior Court on Aug. 2, police said.
