Windsor Police Identify Tree Worker Killed in Accident

He was killed when struck in the head by a falling tree limb Friday, according to police.

WINDSOR, CT — Authorities have released the identity of the tree worker killed in a work-related accident Friday afternoon in Windsor.

Shawn Varley, 32, of Harwinton, suffered a fatal blow to the head when struck by a tree branch shortly after noon Friday. He had been working for J&J Lumber Corp. of Dover Plains, N.Y. in a wooded area at 777 Bloomfield Avenue, Capt. Thomas LePore said.

The incident has been referred to OSHA for investigation, LePore said.
