Deadly Motorcycle Crash In Windsor

WINDSOR, CT — A motorcyclist was killed in a crash involving an SUV early Friday in Windsor, according to police.
The crash happened around 1:01 a.m. Friday, June 5, at the intersection of Windsor Avenue and Meadow Road, according to a Windsor Police Department news release.
Police said officers responded after it was reported that the motorcycle operator was underneath the SUV.

The Windsor Volunteer Ambulance and Windsor Volunteer Fire Department duty officer also responded, police said. The motorcycle operator was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
Police said the SUV driver told officers he was stopped at the light in the left-turn lane of Meadow Road at Windsor Avenue when he saw what he believed was a car, but later learned was a motorcycle, coming in his general direction.

The driver told police he saw sparks on the ground before feeling something hit the front of his SUV, according to the release.
The North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction Squad and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner responded to the scene, police said.
The roadway and nearby ramps have since reopened, according to confirmed information from the Connecticut Department of Transportation.
