Windsor Public Schools Awarded Grants to Improve Innovation and Expand Computer Science Offerings
$74,000 in Grants Awarded by the State Department of Education

Windsor Public Schools has been awarded three grants by the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) totaling approximately $74,000 to encourage innovation and expand computer science offerings in the Windsor school district.
These grants will help fund the purchase of a new high tech 3D printer and a laser engraving machine costing roughly $20,000 each. Access to this equipment will allow students to work with industry-standard tools and transform projects associated with the Electrathon vehicles, the Home Builders’ Association competition and the high school’s NASA HUNCH program. Windsor High School is the only Connecticut district to have an ongoing relationship with NASA, allowing students to develop parts for NASA space stations instructed through the high school’s technology education courses.
“I am honored that the State Department of Education has awarded these significant grants to our district and supports our increasing need for innovation,” said Craig A. Cooke, Superintendent for Windsor Public Schools. “These grants will enable our students and staff to work with the latest cutting-edge technology and tools to help improve the ever-changing landscape of instruction in our district.”
