WINDSOR PUBLIC SCHOOLS ENCOURAGES FAMILIES TO PARTICIPATE IN THE MILLION FATHER MARCH ON SEPTEMBER 15
Event Encourages Family Engagement and Community Support for Children's Educational Success
Windsor Public Schools is partnering with The Black Star Project to organize a Million Father March (MFM) on September 15, 2015 from 7:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. at Windsor High School and Sage Park Middle School. This event is part of a collaborative effort to encourage all parents and guardians to attend and show their support by taking an active role in their children’s educational success. Parents and guardians are asked to arrive at 7:00 a.m. or join throughout the morning as they are available.
The MFM is an opportunity for families across the country to show their commitment to the educational lives of their children throughout the school year. Although this event was created by The Black Star Project’s Fathers’ Club, parents and guardians of any race, gender, nationality and faith background are encouraged to participate by accompanying their children to school and taking the pledge to a year-long commitment to their educational success.
“Research shows that children whose parents or guardians take an active role in their educational lives earn better grades, score higher on tests, enjoy school more and are more likely to graduate from high school and attend college,” said Windsor Public Schools Superintendent Craig Cooke. “Our school district strives to engage closely with families to develop students who are confident, academically successful, socially developed, and valuable contributors to their communities.”

Last year, The Black Star Project helped coordinate The MFM in more than 500 cities nationwide. More than one million men, women and children participated nationwide. One million people in 600 cities are expected to participate in the 2015 Million Father March.
