Also, turkey dinners were provided for 6 families in need and cookie baskets were prepared for the Clover Street Bus Drivers.
John F. Kennedy:
John F. Kennedy School has organized a Giving Tree, and is asking students and staff for donations of hats, mittens, socks, scarves, and jackets. These items will be donated to a local shelter for women and children in transition. Students in the Kiwanis club also participated in an annual carol sing to the seniors at Kimberly Hall and made holiday greeting cards for Windsor soldiers that are serving overseas. The Tree House program organized an “Acts of Kindness” project, where kids are encouraged to do something kind for a teacher, friend, or neighbor.
Oliver Ellsworth:
Oliver Ellsworth School sent home a confidential letter to families so they could request winter items, such as boots, coats and snow pants. Staff organized a Giving tree, where staff and other Ellsworth families adopted anonymous families in need. Over 30 Ellsworth families were assisted with winter gear this holiday season.
Poquonock:
Poquonock School is collecting hats, mittens and gloves for the Early Childhood Council. Staff members also choose one family from each grade level to support this holiday season by providing a variety of gift cards worth hundreds of dollars. The Family Resource Center Coordinator also spent time visiting each classroom to speak to the students about giving to our community members in need.
Windsor Public Schools Central Office:
The Windsor Public School Central Office is sponsoring two families through the Project Santa Program. A Giving Tree was organized at Central Office including ornaments indicating a wish gift for a specific child by age and gender. Staff members provided unwrapped gifts to fulfill holiday wishes.
