Windsor Superintendent Wins Statewide Award
Superintendent Craig Cooke will be honored as the 2019 Outstanding Superintendent by the University of Connecticut.

WINDSOR, CT - Dr. Craig Cooke, Superintendent of Windsor Public Schools has been named the 2019 Outstanding Superintendent Award recipient by the University of Connecticut's Neag School of Education Alumni Board.
Cooke will be recognized at the Neag School's 21st Annual Awards Ceremony on March 16, 2019 in Storrs, Conn. Cooke received his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, his Sixth Year Diploma in Educational Administration and completed his Superintendent Certification coursework from the University of Connecticut. He also received his Master’s of Business Administration from Clarkson University and his Bachelor’s of Business Administration from Castleton State College.

For the past five years, Cooke has served as Superintendent of Windsor (Conn.) Public Schools, where he is responsible for managing the school district, including overseeing a $69 million budget.
Prior to that role, he served as the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for the district of more than 650 educators and support staff. Cooke also previously served as the Human Resources Director for Enfield (Conn.) Public Schools.

Dr. Cooke’s leadership in improving student performance through long-term district wide initiatives has resulted in:
● District enrollment steadily increasing each year following years of declining enrollment (2016
enrollment 3,186 → 2018 enrollment 3,269).
● The Windsor High School graduation rate increasing from 85.6% in 2012 to 92.3% in 2018.
● The 2016/2017 State of Connecticut District Accountability Index was above the state average
(73.8%).
