Windsor Woman Warns About Car-Buying Scam
A local woman is warning others not to fall prey to an online car-buying scheme.

WINDSOR, CT - A local woman thought she had found a good deal on a 2006 Toyota Camry, only to be defrauded by a scam artist. NBC reported that Barbara McLean-Pellitier responded to a Craigslist ad for the car listing it at $1000.
She contacted the seller via email and asked to take the car for a test drive. The seller claimed to be a Manchester resident and told McLean-Pellitier the car for sale was being stored in Kentucky.
The seller said the car was being sold through an eBay auction and eventually convinced McLean-Pellitier to purchase the nonexistent vehicle with $1500 in eBay gift cards.
