Windsor's June Williams Elected to CT Funeral Directors Assn. Board

Windsor resident June R. Williams, CFSP, CPC, has been elected to her first term as a member of the Executive Committee of the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association (CFDA). Williams is a licensed funeral director/embalmer at Windsor, Conn.-based Carmon Community Funeral Homes, with locations in Avon, Granby, Hartford, Rockville, South Windsor, Suffield, Vernon and Windsor (two locations).

She became a licensed funeral director/embalmer in 1984 after completing mortuary school at Wayne State University in Michigan and, several years later, received a four-year undergraduate degree in Mortuary Science from that university. Williams has been a licensed funeral service director/embalmer in Connecticut for 13 years, and in Michigan for 39 years where she served for two years as Vice President of the Michigan Select Funeral Directors Association. She also is licensed in Illinois and Indiana.

Williams is recognized as a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP) through the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice. She is a CPC (Certified Planning Consultant) from the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), making her qualified to help families plan appropriate and customized services, manage funding options and ensure consumer protection for the families he serves.

Williams has been honored by the 100 Black Women in Funeral Service (BWFS) as a Woman of Distinction and as a Business Entrepreneur of the Year. She has presented at the conventions of both the National Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors & Morticians Association on topics that include Hospice and the Funeral Director, and Expectations of the Industry: A Message to Mortuary Students.

Prior to joining Carmon Community Funeral Homes in 2017, she was employed with Concord Family Services, Inc. as a General Manager and funeral director at: the former Henry L. Fuqua Funeral Service in Bloomfield, Conn.; Stinson Funeral Home in Detroit, Mich.; Smith Bizzell & Warner Funeral Home in Gary, Ind.; and Golden Gate Funeral Home in Chicago, Ill.

Williams has two adult children, and lives in Windsor.

The Connecticut Funeral Directors Association (CFDA) is comprised of funeral directors at more than 220 funeral homes. Founded 134 years ago in 1889, the Wethersfield-based association is committed to the promotion and advocacy of high ethical standards in funeral service.
