$215 Million Bradley Project To Begin This Spring

The airport project will include construction of a ground transportation center.

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT - Construction is slated to begin this spring on a $215-million ground transportation center at Bradley International Airport, Mass Live reported. Meanwhile, construction on a new roundabout road entrance to the airport should be finished by late spring or early summer.

Bradley had a busy year in 2018, welcoming more than 6 million passengers and increasing traffic about 3.7 percent, according to Mass Live. Facility upgrades will be designed to add passenger comfort, increase crowd capacity in an effort to delay building an expensive second terminal.

Bradley is also looking to expand its destinations, seeking to pick up routes to the Caribbean, Phoenix, and Seattle this year.

Airport officials will hold meetings with at least ten airlines in an effort to bring new routes and increase passenger traffic. Seattle in particular will be a focus destination in 2019.

The airport added airlines and destinations this year, including an Aer Lingus flight to Dublin and a Via Airlines to Pittsburgh.
