Academic Honors: Windsor Locks, East Windsor College Students

A number of Windsor Locks and East Windsor college students have earned great honors during a very trying academic semester.

WINDSOR LOCKS-EAST WINDSOR, CT — Here are some recent notable academic accomplishments by college students who reside in Windsor Locks and East Windsor. The information is provided to Windsor Locks-East Windsor Patch by readMedia Newswire.

Assumption College, Worcester MA

  • Assumption College has announced that Thomas Angell, of Broad Brook, Class of 2020, has been named to the College's Dean's List for the spring 2020 semester. Students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 for a five-class, 15-credit semester to be included on the prestigious list, which is announced at the completion of the fall and spring semesters. Angell also received the Ken Moynihan Special Award in American History.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

  • Ten Eastern Connecticut State University students were inducted into Delta Mu Delta (DMD), the international honor society for accounting, business administration, business information systems and finance majors. Among the students inducted was Brendan Gondarowski of Broad Brook, a junior majoring in Accounting. In order to qualify, students must have a 3.25 GPA in their field and be in the top 20 percent of their junior or senior class.
  • Eastern Connecticut State University's Communication Department inducted 39 new students into the Lambda Pi Eta national honor society and awarded students for excellence in radio, research, television, leadership, journalism and photography. Among those honored were a pair of Communication majors from Windsor Locks: senior Eric Geckler and junior Ryan Tarko. Lambda Pi Eta is the international honor society for communication with 400 active chapters worldwide. The honor society recognizes students for excellence in the field of communication and supports professional development. To be eligible, students must have completed at least 12 credits of communication study, have a GPA of at least 3.25, be in the upper 35 percent of their graduating class and display commitment to the field of communication.

Western New England University, Springfield MA

  • Aubrey Vargas of East Windsor received the Student Association Fine Arts Award at the 2020 Cocurricular Awards Ceremony at Western New England University held virtually on May 1. This award is presented to a student with Junior standing or above, who has demonstrated notable contributions to the arts on campus and consistently advocates arts awareness on campus. Vargas is earning a degree in Marketing Communication.
