The town said the filing window for elderly and disabled homeowner programs runs from Feb. 1 through May 15. The filing period for the additional veteran exemption runs from Feb. 1 through Oct. 1.

Officials said the renters rebate program is open from April 1 through Oct. 1. A town note says that program is administered by the Social Services office, and residents should call 860-627-1446 to schedule an appointment.

The town also lists an Oct. 1 deadline for blind and disabled exemptions.

According to the posted eligibility information, homeowner programs may apply to people age 65 and older or those who are totally disabled, as long as they own or hold a life use of the property and meet income limits.

The renters program may apply to people age 65 and older, disabled residents, or surviving spouses age 50 and older who meet income guidelines and can provide rent and utility documentation.

For veterans, the town said qualifying service may make residents eligible for basic and additional exemptions, with income limits applying to some extra benefits.

Applications and renewals are handled through the Windsor Locks Assessor’s Office at 50 Church St. The office can be reached at 860-627-1448 or by email at assessor@wlocks.com.

The town said missing a deadline could result in removal from a program and noted that income limits are subject to change.
