Weather forecast:
1. CT Fire Academy Issues Update On Phone Outage (patch.com) — Residents should know that phone lines are still down at the Connecticut Fire Academy in Windsor Locks, affecting the administration offices and the CFA Bookstore. Until service is restored, people needing immediate help are asked to use a temporary cell number or email contacts listed by the academy, which apologized for the inconvenience.
2. Windsor Locks Resident Scores Big Lottery Prize (patch.com) — A Windsor Locks resident has claimed a $10,000 lottery prize from a ticket sold at Hav-Mor Market right in town, turning a routine purchase into a big win. The CT Lottery notes this five-figure payout came from the 10X Cash 18th Edition game and is among regularly reported large prizes.
3. New Laundromat Opening Soon In Windsor Locks (patch.com) — Residents of Windsor Locks will soon have a new place to do laundry, as Windsor Locks Laundromat prepares for its grand opening on Friday, May 29, at 5 National Drive. The laundromat will be open daily from early morning to evening, offering free drying with every wash and a range of machine sizes in a clean, comfortable setting for the local community.
4. Windsor Locks Officials Explain Mowing Delays (patch.com) — Windsor Locks residents may notice slower mowing because Parks Department staffing was cut by 80 hours a week while crews took on new sites like the Senior Center and police facility. Public Works says fast-growing spring grass and fewer workers mean not every park or green space can be mowed on the same schedule, and urges residents to call or email the department directly with concerns.
5. Driver Strikes Enfield Cruiser (patch.com) — Police say a vehicle that fled Massachusetts State Police was later spotted in Enfield, where the driver allegedly struck an Enfield cruiser before escaping again. The vehicle was ultimately found abandoned and unoccupied in Windsor Locks, and investigators are still working to identify who was inside.
