EAST WINDSOR, CT — East Windsor voters rejected two budget proposals for the second time Tuesday, according to results posted by the town.
The May 26 referendum included the proposed $49,104,961 town budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year and the proposed $1,208,580 Broad Brook Fire Department budget.
The town budget was defeated 692-364.
The Broad Brook Fire Department budget was defeated 455-352.
The latest vote followed a May 12 referendum in which both proposals also failed. In that vote, the proposed $49,512,069 town budget was defeated 748-381, while the proposed $1,308,580 Broad Brook Fire Department budget was defeated 479-341.
The May 26 proposal reflected reductions from the earlier vote. The town budget was reduced by $407,108, while the Broad Brook Fire Department budget was reduced by $100,000.
A third budget referendum is scheduled for June 9, according to the town’s budget calendar.
The May 12 vote also included a Broad Brook Fire Department special election. Gil Hayes and Nicholas Macsata were listed as winners for full terms on the Board of Fire Commissioners, according to the town’s posted results.
