EAST WINDSOR, CT — East Windsor police have opened a criminal investigation after an injured puppy was found abandoned inside a dumpster, wrapped in a garbage bag, according to police.
The puppy, estimated to be about 13 weeks old, was discovered in East Windsor and later nicknamed “Oscar” by the department, police said.
Oscar was taken to an emergency veterinary hospital after being found. Police said he suffered significant injuries and will require eye surgery, with the possibility of additional surgery on one of his legs.
After consulting with veterinary staff, officials said the decision was made to do everything possible to save Oscar’s life. His medical expenses are expected to exceed $5,000, according to police.
Donations for Oscar’s care may be dropped off or mailed to the East Windsor Police Department. Police said all contributions will go toward Oscar’s medical care and recovery.
Police are also asking the public for help with the investigation. Anyone with information about Oscar or who may have owned him is asked to contact Animal Control Officer Wentworth through the East Windsor Communications Center at 860-292-8240.
