1-Year-Old Dies After Being Left In Car: East Windsor Police

EAST WINDSOR — A 1-year-old has died after being left in a vehicle, police said.

At 2:24 p.m. Saturday, the East Windsor Police Department Dispatch Center received a medical call from 153 Rockville Road involving an unresponsive 1-year-old child.

The caller stated that he had left his son alone in his vehicle, and when he returned to check on him, he was blue and not breathing, police said.

The father, Kevin Pell, 47, was performing CPR on his son, police said. First responders immediately relieved him and continued administering first aid, police said.

The child was taken to Connecticut Children's Medical Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:17 p.m. The Connecticut State Police Major Crime Squad was notified and requested to assist with processing the scene.

East Windsor detectives are actively working to obtain search warrants, conduct canvasses and interviews, and the investigation is active and ongoing, police said.

Pell is charged with risk of injury to a child, and he is being held in lieu of a $1 million bond.
