Right turn on Red?

Are you in danger of being rear ended every time you run an errand?

Have you taken a right turn on red lately?

Did you “follow the rules”?

I am sure that I will be rear-ended in the near future.  I have noticed that most of the people taking a right turn on red _ aren’t stopping first.  Many hardly slow down at all, and in fact I have seen people speed up in order to beat the traffic that has the right of way.

No, I am not a perfect driver, I have been known to go over the speed limit, but I always stop, if only for a split second to make sure that I have plenty of room to turn if there is traffic coming my way.

It’s like taking a left turn in front of traffic _ do you just turn, or do wait until the path is clear?  Most of us wait until the path is clear _ but there will always be people who speed up, because they’re important and need to get there 2 seconds before the next guy.

Do you want to get there first? Or get there alive?

Am I the only one who stops? No, and I know this because, every once in a while I get behind the person who stops at the light, and doesn't turn right until the light is green, even if there is no traffic.

The federal government enacted these laws in order to save gas, and reduce emissions at intersections, quite a few years ago.  This works in many ways, but not if the person taking a right turn, has "tripped " the light for those on the main road, who now have to wait for the cycle to clear, and thus create extra emissions.

Oh, Well!
