Vacationing with the Grandchildren

A Weeks Vacation with the grandchildren, fun, tiring, priceless!

We recently returned from vacationing with our 3 grandchildren (and their parents) for a week in Lake George NY.  (2 girls, 14 & 10, and 1 boy 7)  We went camping just outside of Lake George, at a great campground.

When we were checking in, we found that although we had requested adjoining campsites, we were at opposite ends of the assigned areas.  The registrar checked with the manager (?) and offerred us a free upgrade to 50A site.

We always go with 30A / Water / Electric / Sewer, (and cable if available.)  That first evening, we found that we may have been upgraded to 50A, but we were a picket fence away from the cafe / entertainment area.

It worked out well in a couple of ways, we were close enough to have free wi-fi at our site. And we could sit around our campfire at night, and enjoy the music, without having to deal with all the teenagers that were there.

And yes, we had campfires at night, even if the day was 100 degrees.  We were in the woods after all, and we had to make 'smores.  Plus, if we had a few extra beers, we only had to climb into the camper, not walk back from the cafe first.

The kids loved this campground, 2 pools, a beach at the river, 15 minutes from Six Flags - Lake George.  We hit the rides, and the water park - had a great time, and called for Pizza when we hit the parking lot. Picked it up on the way back to the campground.  We just didn't want to cook after that long day.

Although we were tired, after being with the grandchildren all week, we had a great time, and really got to know the people that they are becoming.
