Caller To Face Charges In 'April Fools' Prank': East Windsor PD
A prank caller reported an active shooter at a store in East Windsor. Police were not amused.
EAST WINDSOR, CT — A prank caller reported an active shooter at Walmart Wednesday morning as an April Fools' Day joke. Police were not amused, and the caller will face charges.
According to police, the call was made at 8:28 a.m. reporting an active shooter at the 44 Prospect Hill Road store. All East Windsor Police resources responded, as well as units from the Connecticut State Police and the Enfield Police Department.
Police noted on arriving that there were not people running from the store and business operations appeared normal.

Officers immediately entered the store and employees and patrons did not report hearing any gunshots or disturbances.
"Further investigation revealed the incident to be an April Fools prank call," police said in a statement on Facebook. "The person responsible for this prank call being made has been identified and the East Windsor Police Department will be applying for an arrest warrant.

"We appreciate the rapid response from our officers and the officers from the assisting agencies. The safety and security of our residents and visitors is always our primary concern and we will do everything we can to ensure this act is punished to the full extent of the law."
