Central Connecticut State University, New Britain CT

  • A number of area residents have been named to the Dean's List for the spring 2017 semester:
    East Windsor: Nicolette Bailey, Jared Barile, Bruce Bloking, Sean Byrne, Ryan Gregory, Adam Hocutt, Joshua Johnson, Seth Miller, Danielle Plaskonka.
    Windsor Locks: Jamie Bonito, Shelbie Carr, Eric Cormier, Ryan Curcio, Nicholas Dailey, Nathaniel Foster, Victoria Hellberg, Michael Niemann, Courtney Prestwich, Samantha Swanson, Cynthia Terra, Christopher Weigert, Miranda Welch.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

  • Nine business students from Eastern Connecticut State University traveled to Spain this past May to study international business in the European Union. Students stayed in Barcelona and Madrid, and toured businesses and participated in lectures about the history and state of the regional economy. Among the travelers was Adam Fisher of Broad Brook, who majors in Business Administration.
  • Twenty biology students from Eastern Connecticut State University traveled to the Bahamas in May to study the island's tropical biology. Among the travelers was Melody Slater of Broad Brook, who majors in Biology. At the Gerace Research Center, the Eastern students experienced life at an active field station where they explored mangrove forests, sea grass beds, saline lakes and coral reefs. The group snorkeled at field sites around the island and identified species and compared notes on the animals and behaviors they observed. They also conducted quantitative surveys of rocky intertidal and dune communities.

Husson University, Bangor ME

  • Windsor Locks resident Brian Martin has been named to Husson University's Honors List for the spring 2017 semester. Martin is a first-year student who is currently enrolled in Husson's Bachelor of Science in Accounting/Master of Business Administration (MBA) program. Students who make the Honors List must carry at least 12 graded credit hours during the semester and earn a grade point average of between 3.4 to 3.59 during the period.

Roger Williams University, Bristol RI

  • Sierra Valerio, of East Windsor, has been named to the spring 2017 Dean's List at Roger Williams University, in Bristol, R.I. Full-time students who complete 12 or more credits per semester and earn a grade point average of 3.4 or higher are placed on the Dean's List that semester.
