Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

  • Eastern Connecticut State University sent 21 biology students to the 72nd Annual Eastern Colleges Science Conference in Ithaca, NY, on April 21. Among the students was Melody Slater of Broad Brook, who majors in Biology and presented a research project titled "Analysis of a Region of the Cytochrome-B Gene to Examine Patterns of Population Structure and Dispersal of North American Black Terns (Chlidonias Niger)."
  • On May 12, Eastern Connecticut State University Social Work majors were inducted into Eastern's chapter of Phi Alpha, the national social work honor society. Danielle Bolin of Windsor Locks was one of the inductees. The society provides a closer bond among students of social work and promotes humanitarian goals and ideals. Phi Alpha fosters high standards of education for social workers and invites into membership those who have attained excellence in scholarship and achievement.

Lasell College, Newton MA

  • Lasell College has announced that Samantha Killen and Jonnathan Oliveira, both of Windsor Locks,have been named to the spring 2018 Dean's List. Students with this accomplishment are full-time degree candidates who completed 12 or more credits in the spring semester, with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. This semester's Dean's List encompasses a total of 707 students from all class years, including 126 members of the school's first-year class.
