Cedarville University, Cedarville OH

  • Charles Ruckersfeldt from Broad Brook, majoring in mathematics, was named to the spring 2023 Dean's Honor List at Cedarville University. This recognition requires the student to obtain a 3.75 GPA or higher for the semester and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours.

  • Curry College welcomes Ryleigh Shortell of Broad Brook into Psi Chi, the International Psychology Honor Society. Founded in 1929, Psi Chi is an international honor society whose purpose is to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship of the individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology, and to advance the science of psychology. Curry inductees are part of a network of more than 700,000 lifetime Psi Chi members.

Regis College, Weston MA

  • Anthony Corso of Broad Brook graduated Cum laude with a BS in biology from Regis College during the May 6, 2023 commencement exercises. Corso was among more than 1,300 students who received degrees ranging from associate to doctoral levels.

University of Nebraska, Lincoln NE

  • Ashley Lynn Novak of Broad Brook was among a record 3,669 graduates who received degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln during commencement exercises May 19 and 20. Novak earned a Bachelor of Arts with high distinction from the College of Arts and Sciences.

Western New England University, Springfield MA

  • Alexa Adams, of Windsor Locks, was welcomed into Beta Gamma Sigma National Honor Society on April 27 at the Western New England University chapter's annual induction ceremony in the University Commons. Adams is working toward a BSBA in business analytics & information management. Beta Gamma Sigma is a national honor society for business majors at schools accredited by AACSB International, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Students are selected from the top 7% of juniors, top 10% of seniors, and top 20% of graduate students. Candidates must have completed two semesters of study at Western New England University.
  • Jacqueline Brown, of Windsor Locks, was welcomed into Alpha Phi Sigma National Honor Society on May 2 at the Western New England University chapter's annual induction ceremony. Alpha Phi Sigma is the national criminal justice honor society. The mission of the society is to promote critical thinking, rigorous scholarship, and lifelong learning to keep abreast of the advances in scientific research; to elevate the ethical standards of the criminal justice profession; and to sustain in the public mind the benefit and necessity of education and professional training. Brown is working toward a BS in criminal justice.
