Counterfeit $100 Bill Used At East Windsor Tag Sale

The bill appeared real except for one detail.

EAST WINDSOR, CT - Police said that a counterfeit $100 bill was seized Friday. The bill was used at a tag sale to purchase items and the individual using the bill was given change.

The bill appears to be real but has the word "Gecersizdir" on it. Police said a Google search showed this Turkish word means "non-negotiable" or "not valid."

Police warned that this type of scam doesn't just happen at retail outlets. If you come across a questionable bill, call the East Windsor Police at 860-292-8240.
