Crash On I-91 In East Windsor Requires Extrication Of Driver

EAST WINDSOR, CT — A sport utility vehicle traveling south on Interstate 91 left the highway and struck a tree Tuesday afternoon, resulting in the LifeStar medical helicopter being called to assist, according to state police.

The crash occurred around 12:01 p.m. near Exit 44. An older model Kia Sportage hit the tree, causing the driver to become pinned between the dashboard and engine compartment, fire officials said.

Firefighters from Warehouse Point, Broad Brook and Enfield assisted in the extrication of the driver. The victim was flown by LifeStar to Hartford Hospital, fire officials said.
