Democrats Endorsed For Municipal Election In Windsor Locks

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — First Selectman J. Christopher Kervick headed a group of Democrats who earned their party's endorsement as candidates in the 2021 municipal election at a nominating convention Monday night.

Newcomer Jonathan Savino, son of former First Selectman Ed Savino, was nominated for selectman.

"I am excited to be endorsed," Savino said. "I love this town and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve our town and to help make this town the best it can be."

Candidates endorsed for the Board of Education include Jim McGowan, a six-year incumbent, and newcomer Glenn Flanders, who has taught social studies at the high school level and served as director of the Cooperative Work Education Program in South Windsor.

Incumbent Town Clerk Scott Nolan was nominated for re-election, while retired town clerk Bill Hamel was endorsed for town treasurer.

• Board of Assessment Appeals - Rich Pease
• Zoning Board of Assessment Appeals - Ron King, Neal Cunningham, Alba Osorio
• Police Commission - Andrew Kulas
• Fire Commission - Bill Hamel, David Montemerlo Jr.
• Park Commission - Jacob LaValley, Lisa Oney
• Sewer Commission - Brenda Wojtas, Doug Wilson
• Constables - Michael Biedrzycki, Peter Lambert, Alan Gannuscio, Shane O’Connor

Democratic Town Chair Cindy Cooper said, "We are so pleased to have a mix of seasoned and new faces with this year’s party’s endorsement. It is especially gratifying to see first-time candidates, as they bring a tremendous range of life experience, fresh perspective, and a desire to serve the residents of Windsor Locks and to continue moving us forward."

Election Day is Nov. 2.
